Rockwell Collins announces new Airshow® Moving Map features

LONG BEACH, Calif. (September 08, 2008) - Today at the World Airline Entertainment Association (WAEA) conference and exhibition, Rockwell Collins announced new software feature enhancements to its Airshow® 4200 and 4200D Moving Map Display and Flight Information System. These additions will offer passengers an upgraded system with enhanced functionality and capabilities.

"We continue to enhance our market leading Airshow 4200D system to offer a comprehensive, customizable cabin solution," said Tommy Dodson, vice president and general manager of Cabin Systems for Rockwell Collins. "It's always been our philosophy with our moving map product to provide product updates to our customers that ensure our moving map product meets their passengers' expectations."

New software features include Atlas Maps Expansion, Point of Interest Panels, Real-time 3-D day/night animation and additional map resolutions.

The new Atlas Maps are one of three available map styles featuring interstates, major highways, and their associated icon markers as a layer on top of a topographic map - similar to map applications known from the internet. Atlas Map information is now available for North America and Europe.

New Point of Interest (POI) panels triggered by the current location of the aircraft will present image and text information about various points-of-interest along the flight route.

New graphical transitions on both Airshow 4200 and 4200D 3-D map application allow seamless appearance of dawn, day, dusk, and night enhancing the real-time experience for the passengers.

Updates to the topographic maps will include additional map resolutions allowing more detailed views and enhanced transitions between zoom levels.
